Turkey Avocado with Green Goddess: A Modern, Flavorful Twist

First in my trio of tea sandwiches is the Turkey Avocado with Green Goddess Dressing tea sandwich, a modern take on a tea-time favorite. This sandwich combines the richness of ripe avocado with tender slices of turkey, all brought together by the herby, tangy goodness of Green Goddess dressing. The dressing, made with fresh herbs, garlic, and a hint of lemon is so good. It adds a burst of flavor that perfectly complements the creamy avocado and savory turkey. This sandwich is not only delicious but also packed with healthy fats and lean protein.

Key Ingredients:

  • Green Goddess Salad Dressing: The dressing has a rich, tangy flavor with a fresh, herbaceous taste, thanks to the combination of herbs and acidic components.
  • Whole Wheat Bread: Often considered a healthier option because it contains more nutrients and fiber. This can aid in digestion and help maintain stable blood sugar levels.
  • Avocados: Nutrient-rich fruit known for their creamy texture and mild, buttery flavor.

Instructions

  1. On a cutting board, lay two slices of bread (8 slices). Spread a decent layer of the green goddess (1 cup) across one slice. Lay about a quarter of the turkey (½ lb) on top, followed by about a quarter of the avocado (2). Top with the other slice of bread and squish down slightly to adhere.

  2. Using a serrated or sharp chef knife, trim off the crust. Then skewer 3 toothpicks (12) equidistantly along the midline of the sandwich. Carefully slice in between the toothpicks to create 3 tea sandwiches. Repeat process 3 more times.
