Classic Egg Salad: The Timeless Favorite

No tea-time trio would be complete without the Classic Egg Salad sandwich. This timeless favorite is a staple of any good tea spread, offering a creamy, comforting bite that everyone loves. Made with perfectly boiled eggs, mayonnaise, a touch of Dijon mustard, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs, my egg salad is both rich and flavorful. The soft, creamy texture contrasts beautifully with the crisp bread, creating a sandwich that’s as satisfying as it is simple. Whether you’re hosting a traditional afternoon tea or just enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of tea, the Classic Egg Salad sandwich is always a hit.

Key Ingredients:

  • Mayonnaise: A thick, creamy sauce or dressing made primarily from oil, egg yolks, vinegar or lemon juice, and seasonings.
  • Dijon Mustard: Made from brown or black mustard seeds and white wine or wine vinegar. This gives it a smooth, creamy texture and a sharp, tangy flavor.
  • White Sandwich Bread: A type of soft, light-textured bread made from refined wheat flour.

Instructions

  1. On a cutting board, lay two slices of bread (8 slices). Spread a decent layer of the egg salad (16 oz). Top with the other slice of bread and squish down slightly to adhere.

  2. Using a serrated or sharp chef knife, trim off the crust. Then skewer 3 toothpicks (12) equidistantly along the midline of the sandwich. Carefully slice in between the toothpicks to create 3 tea sandwiches. Repeat process 3 more times.
